Layered abstractions revealing what lies beneath

Abstract Artist

My abstract artworks are an amalgamation of experience, observation and imagination.

Physical entities are created, where colours, shapes and textures assemble as components, creating a metamorphosis of the visible. Context and scale play a vital role in shaping meaning.

Fragments are collated from multiple sources: texture, patina, memory. The character of what has been observed and experienced is captured. As an amateur trumpet player, the sound and space in jazz improvisation is also somewhere infused.

The flat surface is a field of possibility resulting in artwork exploring the intersection between printmaking, painting, drawing, collage and assemblage. Objects become images and vice versa.

Formed as a visual dialogue between gesture (emotion) and geometry (reason), this ever-changing place is a response to the shifting nature, and impermanence of living each day.

"My abstract artworks are an amalgamation of experience, observation and imagination."

Artist Bio

Currently based at Stain Studio within the Burrinja Cultural Centre, I am also an active member of the Phillip Island Contemporary Exhibition Space at Berninneit Cultural Centre in Cowes.

With a longstanding exhibition history across both solo and group shows (see CV for details), my work has been awarded and widely collected. Notably, I received recognition at the iconic Linden New Art Postcard Show in 2018. My artworks are held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally, including in Denmark, Greece, the United States, Germany, England, and India.

Recent exhibitions include two major solo shows at Yering Station Art Gallery in 2023 and a 2024 solo presentation at Up Gallery. In 2025, I will present Soft Geometry, a new solo exhibition at Burrinja Cultural Centre (September–October).

My practice centres on abstraction, often exploring themes of time and place. I draw inspiration from the work of Robert Ryman, Robert Rauschenberg, Sean Scully, and Alfred Leslie, whose approaches continue to inform and challenge my own visual language.
